Artisans of beauty:

- Jyothi Govindaraj

We, the Vishwakarma Community (Artisans) are sons of Lord Vishwakarma i.e. Manu, Maya, Dhuvashta, Silpi and Vishvagna.

Principal work of each son is -

Manu who is the Blacksmith, makes all agricultural tools from iron steel for cultivation and harvest.

Maya who is the Carpenter, makes all wooden work like doors, windows and other architectural work required for temple and the house.

Dhuvashta who is the Bronze Coppersmith, makes all Temple Kumbha Kalasam and Pooja items like lamps etc. and household utensils.

Silpi who is the Sculptor , makes all Idols of stone, panchaloha for worship and temple towers with vasthu sashtras.

Vishvagna who is the Goldsmith makesornaments for all classes of people- poor to rich (thali, mangalya, mangal sutra) from precious metals stones. Temple ornaments with precious stones as in Thirupathi (Thirumala) are made by him.

There are many who seek out artefacts all around the world. We are very much proud of our glorious past and our 'steeped in tradition' roots. Even today we find great pride in carrying forth the values and tradition taught to us by our forefathers.
